Galileo's Grave is set in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood, home to a large working-class, blue-collar contingency as well as to artists and musicians.
The film grounds itself in this area, providing a good fit for Vic and Meg - two people who have lived their entire lives in the same neighborhood. The film takes place in spring, representing change and a coming to life - two elements seen between Vic and Meg as well as in Ravenswood itself.
Bolstered by a $100,000 IFP/Chicago Production Fund grant, Galileo's Grave is supported by local and national production and rental houses, including Essanay, Film Branch, Fletcher Chicago, Bexel, RSL Rentals, Eastman Kodak, and Panavision, as well a talented crew from Northwestern University, Columbia College, and the Chicago production community.
The outstanding staffs at Black Cat Productions, Filmworkers/Astro Lab, and i^3 helped take the film through post-production to completion. As the film is prepped for festivals, test screenings have been positive.
